 Precious and Semi-Precious Stones

Precious and semi-precious stones have been used alongside metal jewelry since the earliest days of metalworking, bringing color to what metal alone could not provide. The symbolic, magical, and protective properties attributed to these gems enhance their value—beliefs that have endured through generations.

Gemstones used in jewelry are valued according to their weight, size, luster, brilliance, transparency, degree of perfection, durability, portability, and availability. These qualities stem from their chemical composition and physical characteristics, which allow them to be identified and classified as either precious or semi-precious. Today, we also include laboratory-grown stones in our portfolio.

At SHUK, we issue GIA (Gemological Institute of America) certificates for diamonds above 0.50 ct and certificates of origin and description for Colombian emeralds upon request.

Every gemstone we set at SHUK is carefully selected, taking into account essential attributes such as cut, color, size, precise measurements, quality, and balance — always seeking a standard of perfection and lasting beauty.
