…”Shuk´s uncomplicated, elegant jewellery has struck a chord with the low profile mentality of the affluent inhabitants of this part of town – a certain paranoia about ostentatious shows of wealth being a hangover from the kidnap threat in teh 1990´s – and her subtle work with gold, platinum, silver, acrylic and diamonds have won a loyal following. A keen colaborator, Shuk invites a designer or artist to join her in the workshop every few months, opening up the gallery space in her front room.

In March, a Napoleon exhibition will be inaugurated in Bogota, Colombia, displaying hundreds of the Emperor’s objects. This pendant is a replica of an original brooch from that collection. It is is made with perspex, resin, swarovski crystals and silver chain. The prominent Colombian photographer, Maria Elisa Duque, performed a photo session for SHUK´s El Dorado collection.  We worked on two ideas: blurry shadows and delicate insinuations of pastry placemats and primary colors as background,  all in support of the idea of hybridism and coexistence of diverse materials in this collection.

The colombian painter Ana Mercedes Hoyos had the initiative to produce this limited series of silver and gold jewellery, using the preliminary drawings for her oil paintings of ribbons of Palenque women. This series is cautivating the colombian public and was first shown at teh exhibition “Espíritu y Materia” at the Escuela de Bellas Artes of Cartagena with Galería Deimos.
